About

A platform designed from practice.

Vectac is a Quebec software company and TrackBeam is its product. It was designed by a CPA who spent several years in accounting firms and saw the same operational difficulties recur from one engagement season to the next.

From observation to product

I worked in accounting firms for years and I saw all the bottlenecks that made me think about TrackBeam — how write-offs occurred, how priorities were extremely slow to manage. You had to do back and forth. You did not really know. It was a mess all the time. Martin Maheux, CPA, MBA Founder

Two observations in that account shaped the product. The first is the cost of re-sequencing work by hand: each revision required a round of interruptions, and the situation had often changed before the answer came back. The second is the dispersal of information — the data needed to decide well existed, but across several systems and rarely current at the same moment.

TrackBeam addresses both. The data is held in a single system, stated rules are applied to it, and the resulting order of work maintains itself. Write-offs, in this reading, are less a question of pricing or staffing than of sequencing — a task no firm has the time to perform manually, every day, at the pace the work actually moves.

Who is behind it

Martin Maheux, CPA, MBA

Founder

Martin is a CPA who practised in accounting firms for several years before founding Vectac. He designs the product, develops the software, conducts the demonstrations, and responds to support enquiries. He also serves as Vectac’s privacy officer under Law 25.

Philippe Beauregard

Security infrastructure and compliance

Philippe is responsible for the security infrastructure and for compliance. He oversees how the application is hosted and segmented, how access is granted and reviewed, and the controls behind the commitments set out in the Trust Center.

Alexandra Labrosse

Outreach, contracts and quality assurance

Alexandra is responsible for outreach, contracts and quality assurance. She is the first point of contact for firms considering TrackBeam, prepares the pilot and service agreements, and tests each release against the way the work is actually carried out in practice.

Designed in Quebec, in French

The product was designed in French for firms that work in French, using the vocabulary practitioners here employ — mandat, tier du client, tâche préalable, lot de traitement. The application and its database run in Azure Canada East, in Quebec. This is not a localization added after the fact; it is how the product was built.

Joining at this stage

TrackBeam is at an early stage, and firms joining now have a corresponding degree of influence: the priorities for what is built next are shaped by the firms taking part in the pilot rather than by a roadmap set before the product was in use. Direct access to the person who designed it comes with that.
